Creating a simple future trading system

It is quite easy to use MetaStock for Windows to duplicate the simple creation of future trading system which is presented in the TASC interview in May 1997 issue of Jay Kaeppel. In MetaStock for Windows, choose System Tester from the menu Tools. Click the New button and enter the following rules:
SIGNAL formulas

Enter Long:
Cross (Mov (Close, 9, S), MOV (Close, 50, K)) and Close> Mov (Close, 80, C)
Close Long:
Cross (Mov (Close, 50, S), MOV (Close, 9, S)) AND Close> Mov (Close, 80, C)
Enter Short:
Cross (Mov (Close, 50, S), MOV (Close, 9, S)) And Close <Mov (Close, 80, C)
Close Short:
Cross (Mov (Close, 9, S), MOV (Close, 50, K)) And Close <Mov (Close, 80, C)
When testing futures MetaStock it is best to use "points" only a test. To do this, select Options from the System Tester dialog, and then only test score by test.

To use the Explorer, the screen generating the recent futures signal with this system, choose from the Explorer Tools dialog and enter the following rules:
Column formulas

ColumnA: Sign Buy
Cross (Mov (Close, 9, S), MOV (Close, 50, K)) and Close> Mov (Close, 80, C)
ColumnB: Shrt Sig
Cross (Mov (Close, 50, S), MOV (Close, 9, S)) And Close <Mov (Close, 80, C)
SOURCE FILTER

Filter enabled: Yes
Formula:
Cola = 1 or colB = 1
Next select the Explore and Explorer will look for and then display any futures, which have generated new signals.
