Home Remodeling Outside Your Home - Designing Private Garden Spaces

By Georgine Wearing

Constructing your own private garden is not only exciting but gives years of pleasure and revitalization as you see nature as its best. Private gardens can really build an almost outdoor room extending the house outside. It is almost a sanctuary to get away from but also a perfect place to unwind and enjoy with friends and brag about it! The garden offers a place to get away from the daily problems of life.

I've had the experience of visiting a truly private garden, but this tropical palm garden has over 160 acres in size and located nestled along the coase of south Florida in Biscayne Bay. Your planned garden does not have to be acres in size to give excitement. Private garden spaces normally are small where a gazebo or small backyard patio is the perfect place for refuge especially when the sun goes down by providing landscape lighting fixtures. Big or small the garden will depend on your personal taste and budget.

In constructing any private garden the objective typically comes down to creating a private calming retreat. Though a garden doesn't require to be private I've found them much more calming and enjoyable when they are at least semi-private. Before doing anything think where you need to set your little place of paradise. When any noise or traffic is an issue you should plan to reduce the noise. Whenever possible, try to look for a spot away from everyday traffic and distractions.

Other gardens basically have a barrier of a "living wall" and some need more of an open space and use an arbor or arch to frame the entrance. Typically living walls are fences covered with a fast growing vine. Once mature the living wall can separate you and creates a private paradise away from the world. The vines are there to act as a sound barrier lessening the noise and filtering out dust and dirt. In addition it can help create the garden area more cooler.

Being containerized is also a probability and gives you the option of building a private space quickly. This is a perfect plan for small spaces. In a container garden plan of having flower pots in many sizes and add also mature plants. Arrange the plants and flowers all around the area. Utilizing several pot sizes placed creatively will make a stunning little paradise and give privacy as well.

The down side of a container garden is the inability to reduce noise, therefore these kinds of garden work best in a secluded part of a yard. Although, no matter where you live or the size of the property building your own private garden is a place you can call your own.
