Many lay claim to the title of being the best in ridding yourself of wrinkles with remedies such as botox, plastic surgery, creams and cosmetic tricks. However, healthy eating result in a much better, safer and more permanent result when stunting the aging process starting from the inside instead. Bringing back the sheen and refinement of the skin you had a few ages ago simply requires you to select foods containing high antioxidants levels.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) conducted a study that evaluated more than a hundred commonly consumed foods products to see which one contained the highest antioxidant content per serving. Vegetables, fruits, legumes, and nuts garnered high ranking on the high antioxidant list of foods.

The legumes in the top list consisted of kidney beans, the tiny red beans and the pinto beans. Under the antioxidant-rich per serving foods list, they took the top five slots. The fruit category, which was primarily composed of blackberries, blueberries and cranberries, followed by raspberries, apples (the Red Delicious and Granny Smith variety) and strawberries, came in a very close second on the list.

In the vegetable category, the artichoke got to be included in the top 10 list while the Russet potato made it in the top 20. Brussels sprouts, spinach, kale, red beets, red cabbage, and peppers were all among the other vegetables found to be rich in antioxidants.

Moving on to the nut category, pecans made it to within the top 20 of the foods rich in antioxidants which was very closely followed by hazelnuts and walnuts. Still valuable but not as obvious in antioxidant-rich foods were the spices the were contrived cinnamon, oregano, and ground cloves.

According to an osteopathic physician and author, Dr. Joseph Mercola, dieting is a lot more beneficial to the body to slow the aging process rather than preventing wrinkles by applying topical treatments.Getting your daily dose of antioxidants from fresh fruits and vegetables for your age defying regimen is always better than taking them as food supplements or rubbing stuff on your skin.
